The first meeting was held this month in Azerbaijan, a country rich in energy resources and one of the world's oldest oil producers, on the launch of a pilot project to build a floating solar power plant with a total capacity of 100 kW on Lake Boyukshor.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy, Tamiz Shahar OJSC and the Banco Asiático de Desarrollo. The local company in charge of this project also attended the meeting, Gamma Solutions. Gamma Solutions was contracted by OCA Global as a result of the evaluation of the proposals received for the project. The construction of the station is expected to be carried out in collaboration with local companies.
This project is part of the awarded contract "Floating Solar Power Systems Development" with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), through which OCA Global is supporting Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic to enhance their technical knowledge and skills in the design, construction and operation of solar PV plants, in particular floating PV, through pilot projects, feasibility studies of commercial-scale projects, and practical institutional capacity building, including in-depth study tours in major FPV countries. The expected outcome is that beneficiary countries will initiate the construction of their first large-scale FPV plant.
